Safa graduated with a degree in Economics and Law from the University of Leicester and completed her LPC at the University of Law, Birmingham. She trained at Johns and Saggar and qualified here in 2017. Safa is an associate solicitor working primarily in our charity and not for profit and property teams.
Having been involved in various not for profit and charitable organisations over the years, Safa has had valuable insight into the challenges, sensitivities and requirements of this sector helping her to play a key role in our charity department. She conducts charity governance reviews and prepares governance policies tailored to the structure and needs of the organisation as well as Charity Commission requirements. Safa regularly acts for charity clients that are the subject of negative media coverage and allegations or those facing statutory inquiry by the Charity Commission. She assists charities in all stages of litigation, particularly charity disputes in the High Court.
As part of our property team Safa uses her knowledge of charity and property law to advise charities and not for profits on the acquisition and disposal of property. She assists the charity department by transferring charitable properties following mergers and restructuring of charities and not for profits. Safa acts for both UK and overseas clients in sales, purchases and refinancing of property, with additional expertise in transactions involving Islamic finance elements.
Charities and not for profits regularly instruct Safa for immigration services. She has obtained sponsorship licenses for organisations and has successfully acted for charities and individuals appealing Home Office decisions.
